If he were still alive, Vladimir Popović – Pop would have turned 41 on June 14, 2026. Sadly, he left us far too soon two years ago and departed for another place, where he continued to play his music. Those of us who remain on this fallen Black Planet simply wanted to let him know that he has not been forgotten and that he is still here with us in spirit.
For that reason, on his birthday, the alternative music compilation Infinite Utopia II – Alternative Eternity for Vlada Pop was released.
The compilation features 41 tracks, one for each year of Pop’s life, both here and beyond. Many of Pop’s friends, collaborators, and all those who felt the need to become part of this musical infinite utopia contributed to the project. However, the principal visionary and driving force behind this release is Peđa Živanović, Pop’s first partner, collaborator, and co-founder of the independent record label Black Planet Records, together with the Živanović family (Peđa, Kaća, and Vaske), for whom Pop was truly another member of the family.
This is the second compilation dedicated to Pop, and like its predecessor, it has brought together artists and bands from various corners of the local and regional alternative music scene—from post-punk, noise rock, shoegaze, EDM, and experimental electronics to ambient soundscapes, industrial music, and aggressive metal riffs. Everyone who wished to contribute to this emotional and sonically powerful tribute to a man who connected people, ideas, and sounds found a place in this Infinite Utopia. And I must admit—it sounds fantastic.
The compilation was released by the independent music label Black Planet Records 2.0, through which Peđa has continued the idea and mission he originally started with Pop and the first Black Planet.
In that spirit, the label states:
This compilation is not merely a collection of songs—it is a testament to a struggle for independence, a spirit that never surrenders, and music that endures.
Vlada Pop believed in uncompromising art and the lasting power of unity. This eternity is for him.
